A man has been arrested in San Luis Obispo County on suspicion of criminal threats and brandishing after an alleged contentious incident at a local hospital.

On the morning of January 8th, police responded to Sierra Vista Hospital on a report of a man threatening people with a knife.

Police say that by the time they got there, the incident had already diffused. Nonetheless, they learned that the suspect — identified as 51-year-old Daniel Marcom — was being confrontational while a doctor was attempting to treat him for an unspecified injury and, when asked to be quiet, threatened and used a racial epithet against the doctor treating him.

Marcom reportedly then threatened and brandished a knife, completely unprovoked, at the person with whom he was sharing his room, prompting a call to police.

Marcom, a local transient, has since been arrested and booked at the SLO County Jail on suspicion of making criminal threats.
