Seaside Resident Arrested on Suspicion of Unauthorized Purchases on Elderly Client’s Credit Card

MARINA, CA  — A 29-year-old caregiver from Seaside was arrested Friday morning following an investigation into thousands of dollars in unauthorized purchases made using an elderly client’s credit card.

The Marina Police Department launched an investigation in May 2026 after receiving a report that a caregiver had committed fraud against an elderly dependent. Detectives determined that the suspect, identified as Kierra Juanita Hargrow, fraudulently charged more than $15,000 to the victim’s credit card via various e-commerce platforms, including Amazon.

Following the initial probe, detectives secured a search warrant for Hargrow’s residence in the 1800 block of Juarez Street in Seaside, alongside a felony warrant for her arrest.

On Friday morning, Marina Police detectives and patrol officers, assisted by Seaside Police Department detectives and day watch officers, executed the warrants at the home. Hargrow was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Monterey County Jail on suspicion of financial elder abuse (Penal Code 368(e)(1)) and grand theft (Penal Code 487(a)). Bail was set at $60,000.

During the search, officers located and recovered the majority of the merchandise purchased during the alleged fraudulent transactions.

The investigation remains active regarding additional potential unauthorized charges. Anyone with information related to the case is encouraged to contact the Marina Police Department at (831) 384-7575.
