San Jose PD Special Operations Metro Unit Reportedly Shut Down Illegal Gambling Operation
SAN JOSE, CA — “In September 2026, SJPD officers with the assistance of the Special Operations Metro Unit, developed information about suspected illegal gambling and controlled-substance activity at a residence located in the 4500 block of Houndshaven Way.
On September 25, with assistance of the Special Operations MERGE Unit, officers served a search warrant at the residence. During the search, officers seized 15 illegal gambling machines, thousands in cash, and approximately 39 grams of methamphetamine.
Four suspects were arrested, including the primary suspect who was booked for offenses related to illegal gambling, conspiracy, and possession of narcotics.
Three additional suspects were booked on outstanding warrants and for obstructing a peace officer in the performance of their duties. When the odds are stacked against you, maybe don’t add ‘obstructing a peace officer’ to the bet.
Investigations like this are one part of our ongoing commitment to keeping San José neighborhoods safe. When our community and officers work together, we can take action against criminal activity and help keep our neighborhoods safer.”
