Community Tip Reportedly Leads to Human Trafficking Arrest in Fairfield
FAIRFIELD, CA — “During the evening of September 28, officers responded to a business in the 4300 block of Central Place after a concerned community member reported seeing a young woman in distress.
Officers contacted the woman and determined she was the victim of human trafficking. The suspect, identified as 36-year-old Kenan Shackelford, was quickly located and detained nearby.
During the investigation, officers determined Shackelford had prior felony convictions and was in possession of a handgun and ammunition. He was subsequently arrested on charges including human trafficking, pimping, and firearms-related offenses.
The Fairfield Police Department is grateful to the community member who recognized that something was wrong and took the time to report it. That call helped officers intervene and rescue a victim from a dangerous situation.
