Madera PD Releases Statement on Recent Officer-Involved Shooting
MADERA, CA — “Madera PD remains committed to transparency with our community regarding Sunday’s officer involved shooting (OIS). During the OIS two Madera PD officers fired their weapons at the suspect who succumbed to his injuries. Preliminary identification information from a family member identified the suspect as Samuel Santiago Daniel, approximately 26 years old. It is anticipated that formal identification information will be obtained through fingerprints and DNA, which is still pending. The department has released the attached photo of the replica firearm used by Mr. Daniel during the incident. A search of Mr. Daniel’s bedroom revealed drug paraphernalia.
As with any OIS incident the Madera Police Department remains committed to transparency and will release additional information when appropriate, and in accordance with State laws. This incident is being investigated by the California Department of Justice.”
