Crash scene (MPD)
On Wednesday, August 23, 2017, officers apprehended Adan Zurita-Aparicio at his home for driving under the influence.
Officers were called to the area of Laguna and Raymond Road after a white truck crashed into a parked car. The driver did not stop but continued until his drive was abruptly halted when he ran into a city street light pole. Zurita-Aparicio abandoned his vehicle and was found at his home, a few houses down from the last crash site.
Madera Police Department stresses the dangers DUI drivers put on the community but this incident is also an example of the financial burden DUI drivers place on taxpayers.
After the impact, the truck was the only thing keeping the light pole from falling. Once the truck was removed, the light pole fell onto the road, at which time public works employees had to be called to the scene to assess electrical safety issues and remove the light pole.
Adan Zurita-Aparicio was arrested for DUI and Hit & Run charges.
