Madera County Man Sentenced to 50 Years to Life in Prison for Wife’s Murder

A Madera County man has been sentenced to 50 years to life in prison for the murder of his wife.

According to the county District Attorney’s Office, 36-year-old Jeffrey Olson was sentenced on Wednesday, March 1, for the murder of his wife, Maigan Olson, 35.

Maigan Olson was found fatally shot at the couple’s home on the 3300 block of Winter Way on Thursday, April 13, 2020. Responding officers determined the shooting was domestic violence related, and arrested Jeffrey Olson and booked him at the Madera County jail on $1 million bail.

The couple’s two children were reportedly placed in the care of other family members.

According to the Madera Tribune, Olson had no prior arrests and an exact motive for the shooting was unclear.

Olson was convicted of first-degree murder on January 30 of this year.

The case was investigated by the Madera Police Department and the District Attorney’s Office Special Victim Unit prosecutor.
