Fresno Police Identify Two Suspects in Fatal East Shaw Avenue Shooting

FRESNO, CA — “On Thursday, September 24, 2026, at approximately 10:32 pm, Northeast Policing District officers responded to 420 E. Shaw Avenue regarding a 1 round ShotSpotter notification. Additional information was then received by our dispatch center of a victim of a shooting at the location. Officers arrived and located 25-year-old Muhammad Muhtaraam-Conley, in the parking lot of the location, who had been shot. Officers and EMS personnel provided life-saving measures to the victim on scene. He was transported by EMS to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
Homicide Detectives determined a verbal disturbance occurred in the parking lot area of the business before the victim was shot. Detectives have identified two suspects involved in this investigation as Malik Upshaw, 26 years old, and Sakilian Drum, 20 years old, both of Fresno. On Sunday, September 27, 2026, Sakilian Drum turned himself in at the Fresno County Jail and is in custody for PC 245(a)(2) – Assault with a Deadly Weapon (firearm).
Upshaw is still outstanding and wanted for PC 187(a) – Murder.
