CHP Nighttime Traffic Stop Uncovers Stolen Handgun and Packaged Narcotics
MODESTO, CA – A routine traffic stop conducted by California Highway Patrol officers during a recent graveyard shift led to the arrest of two individuals on multiple drug and weapons charges.
Officers initiated the enforcement stop after observing a vehicle operating with multiple mechanical violations. Upon approaching the automobile, officers spotted an open container of alcohol inside the vehicle, as well as a single round of live ammunition resting on the floorboard near the front passenger’s feet.
A subsequent search of the vehicle yielded a handgun—later confirmed stolen out of Kansas City—alongside a significant quantity of illicit narcotics packaged for sale.

Both occupants were taken into custody and booked on multiple drug-related charges. The front passenger faces additional charges, including possession of a stolen firearm and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
