OAKDALE – On May 24 the Turlock PD S.W.A.T. team started its day by serving an arrest and search warrant. They sought 37-year-old Jesus Tovar for an attempted murder charge. This turned into an hours-long barricade.
What He did First
Tovar tried to flee the house in the 1100 block of Pedras Road, the returned inside upon encountering law enforcement.
Furthermore, Tovar hid in the attic of the residence. The Hostage Negotiation Team arrived and evacuated surrounding residences.
As a result, “after several hours of intense negotiation,” Tovar surrendered without further incident.
Law Enforcement Teamwork
Oakdale PD, Ceres PD, Merced and Stanislaus Sheriffs all assisted Turlock PD in this arrest.
This assistance included the CPD Bear Cat Armored Insertion vehicle. Also, the Merced SWAT used an electronic device after the suspect destroyed another one.
