Teenage Driver Cited After CHP Clocked Corvette at 123 MPH in Grass Valley
GRASS VALLEY, CA — A teenage driver was cited for excessive speeding after a California Highway Patrol officer recorded a vehicle traveling more than double the posted speed limit along a local roadway.
A CHP Grass Valley officer observed a Chevrolet Corvette traveling 123 mph in a designated 55 mph zone—68 mph above the speed limit—on Sunday night.
Upon initiating a traffic stop and contacting the operator, the officer identified the driver as a 17-year-old juvenile.
Officers issued a citation to the driver and notified his parent regarding the incident.
In a statement following the stop, CHP representatives emphasized the severe reaction-time risks associated with high-speed driving on public thoroughfares, urging motorists to adhere to posted speed limits to prevent collisions.
