Suspect Arrested in Connection with Healdsburg Jewelry Store Burglary
HEALDSBURG, CA — “On August 31, 2026, Officers with the Healdsburg Police Department responded to a burglary that had just occurred at a jewelry store in the downtown area. According to initial reports, a lone subject entered the store, stole thousands of dollars in jewelry, and fled the area. Investigators later determined the same subject attempted to steal from an additional jewelry store elsewhere in Sonoma County.
Officers immediately launched a thorough investigation that included a review of Automated License Plate Reader (ALPR) data, examination of surveillance footage, and the authoring and service of search warrants.
On September 1, 2026, with the assistance of the Citrus Heights Police Department, the subject was taken into custody in Citrus Heights after fleeing from the suspect vehicle. While the stolen jewelry was not recovered, multiple items of evidence were located within the suspect vehicle.
The subject initially provided a false name and was ultimately identified as Denis Gabriel Chitu, a 30-year-old male. Chitu was found to have more than a half-dozen outstanding felony arrest warrants originating from jurisdictions across the United States. He is currently being held with no bail due to his outstanding warrants.”
