PETALUMA, CA — May 8th 2026 —

“On Sunday, May 3, 2026, at approximately 3:56 p.m., Petaluma Police Officers responded to a report of a man brandishing a knife during a confrontation at the MidPen apartment complex.

The suspect, Carle Houle (46, Petaluma) armed himself with a knife, charged at the victim, and made stabbing motions toward them. Houle fled the area prior to Petaluma PD arrival.

Officers conducted an extensive search of the surrounding area but were initially unable to locate the suspect.

Several hours later, Officers located the suspect walking along the railroad tracks behind the apartment complex. When Officers attempted to contact Houle, the suspect fled on foot, leading officers on a brief foot pursuit. Houle was ultimately taken into custody without incident and booked into the Sonoma County Jail on charges of assault with a deadly weapon and resisting arrest.

During the jail intake process, correctional staff discovered suspected controlled substances concealed on the arrestee’s person, resulting in additional charges.
