Two Arrested in North Auburn Organized Retail Theft Investigation
NORTH AUBURN CA — “On Tuesday, August 25, deputies received a report of suspects who had just stolen merchandise from the Home Depot in North Auburn. Deputies were provided with a detailed description of the suspect vehicle, and a short time later, members of our Strategic Response Team spotted a vehicle matching that description traveling on I-80.
Deputies confirmed the vehicle’s license plate matched the one associated with the theft and conducted a traffic stop near I-80 and Penryn.
Inside the vehicle, deputies located more than $3,000 worth of stolen merchandise from the Auburn Home Depot, along with additional merchandise believed to have been stolen from other Home Depot locations.
Deputies arrested 27-year-old Candice Lopez of Van Nuys and 31-year-old Christian Vega of San Diego. Further investigation revealed both suspects also had outstanding felony warrants related to theft.
Lopez and Vega were booked into jail on charges of organized retail theft, conspiracy to commit a crime, receiving stolen property, and grand theft.
Outstanding work by everyone involved!”
