CHINO, CA — Law enforcement officers arrested 12 individuals during a multi-hour DUI and driver’s license checkpoint conducted on Central Avenue on Friday evening.
The operation took place on August 28, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. in the 11900 block of northbound Central Avenue. During the enforcement detail, officers contacted 1,792 vehicles, resulting in six arrests for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Additionally, officers arrested one individual on drug-related charges, four individuals on various criminal charges, and one individual on multiple felony charges, including possession of an unserialized firearm. Officers also issued citations to 40 drivers for operating a vehicle without a valid driver’s license or with a suspended or revoked license.
Law enforcement agencies select checkpoint locations based on data tracking impaired driving-related collisions, aiming to enhance public safety by removing impaired and unlicensed drivers from public roadways. Department officials announced that the city’s next DUI checkpoint is scheduled for December 2026.
Funding for the operation was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
