3 Suspects Arrested After Elderly Camarillo Man Robbed in “Bank Jugging” Incident
VENTURA COUNTY, CA — August 19, 2026 — On the afternoon of August 18th, an elderly Camarillo man who had withdrawn a large amount of cash from a bank was followed home and robbed by three suspects.
As the victim sat inside his vehicle in his driveway, one of the suspects allegedly opened the passenger door, climbed inside and took the money. Surveillance video later reviewed by investigators showed that the theft was apparently a team effort, with one suspect acting as a lookout while another waited behind the wheel of a getaway vehicle.
According to Ventura County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Det. Sgt. Ernan Jauregui, the case is an example of “bank jugging” in which “suspects watch banks or ATMs for people withdrawing large amounts of cash, then follow them and steal the money, either by breaking into a vehicle or confronting the victim directly.”
VCSD Camarillo Patrol deputies were dispatched to the victim’s residence, obtained a “good description” of the suspects’ vehicle and passed it along to responding deputies.
Deputies spotted the suspect vehicle as it entered U.S. Highway 101 and conducted a traffic stop, whereupon they made contact with Tyson Hinton, 27, of Lancaster; Quawun Williams, 33, of Long Beach; and Malcolm Lockhard, 26, of Long Beach.
All three were arrested and transported to Ventura County Jail, where Hinton was booked on suspicion of conspiracy to commit a crime, grand theft and felony vandalism. Williams was booked on suspicion of conspiracy and grand theft. Lockhard was booked on suspicion of conspiracy, grand theft and destroying evidence.
Each of the three men was being held in lieu of $200,000 bail.
