Napa Resident Arrested on Possession of Child Sexual Assault Material (CSAM) Charges

NAPA COUNTY — Napa County Sheriff’s Office detectives recently arrested 63-year-old Napa resident Robert Taylor Free on charges of possessing child sexual assault material (CSAM). Free, who worked at a local Napa establishment where minors are present, was booked into the Napa County Department of Corrections. His bail was set at $50,000.00.

The investigation originated with the Solano County Sheriff’s Office after officers learned that Free was attempting to sexually exploit children online. Because Free resided in Napa County, detectives from the Napa County Sheriff’s Office assumed the role of lead agency for the case.

Last month, detectives from both the Napa County and Solano County Sheriff’s Offices executed a search warrant at Free’s residence on Harkness Street in Napa. Law enforcement personnel seized his personal electronics pursuant to the search warrant. During the examination of the seized electronic devices, detectives located the illegal material on his computer.
