Suspicious Vehicle Encounter in Plumas Bank Parking Lot Leads to Significant Drug Bust
YUBA CITY, CA — Over the weekend, deputies with the Sutter County Sheriff’s Office contacted a suspicious vehicle parked in the lot of a Plumas Bank branch in Yuba City.
During the interaction, law enforcement identified one of the vehicle’s occupants as 46-year-old Melissa Johnson, a resident of Live Oak. Deputies determined Johnson was currently released from custody on her own recognizance for a prior narcotics sales case, which included active search terms.
Pursuant to those terms, deputies performed a search of Johnson and the vehicle. The search yielded approximately five ounces of suspected psilocybin mushrooms, a vial of suspected liquid LSD, approximately 50 sugar cubes suspected to be infused with LSD, 13.65 grams of suspected methamphetamine, several hydrocodone pills, a digital scale, drug paraphernalia, and 13 naloxone test strips.
Johnson was taken into custody and transported to the Sutter County Jail. During the facility booking process, correctional personnel discovered an additional hidden bag of suspected methamphetamine on her person.
Johnson was booked into the Sutter County Jail on charges including possession of controlled substances, possession of controlled substances for sale, bringing a controlled substance into a jail facility, and committing a felony while released on own recognizance.
