San Mateo County Authorities Arrest Suspect in Burlingame Hills Residential Burglary
BURLINGAME HILLS, CA — “After an extensive investigation by the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office that spanned three months and involved multiple Bay Area agencies, a suspect has been arrested in connection with an April residential burglary in Burlingame Hills.
On April 17, 2026, deputies responded to a report of a residential burglary believed to have occurred the previous night in the 100 block of Los Robles Drive in unincorporated San Mateo County (Burlingame Hills). Personal property and a vehicle were stolen during the burglary.
Deputies immediately began an extensive investigation that included collecting witness interviews, conducting neighborhood canvasses, surveillance video collection, and forensic evidence processing. During the investigation, deputies learned the homeowner had recently died and the residence was vacant.
Investigators identified the suspect as David A. Brown, 41, of Fremont, through surveillance video and automated license plate reader (ALPR) technology.
Brown was taken into custody in Oakland on April 28, 2026 on unrelated charges, and a subsequent search recovered the victim’s stolen cards and multiple items linked to the case.
On July 23, 2026, after further investigation examining transaction records and cellphone forensic analysis, the San Mateo County District Attorney’s Office filed multiple charges against Brown including:
• PC 460(b) – Second Degree Burglary
• PC 484g(a) – Theft by use of Access Card Information
• PC 530.5(a) – Identity Theft
• PC 368d – Theft from Elder or Dependent Adult
• VC 10851(a) – Taking Vehicle without Owner’s Consent
Investigators believe Brown may be connected to additional burglaries throughout the Bay Area and the Sheriff’s Office is working closely with neighboring agencies. Brown remains in custody at the Santa Rita Jail in Alameda County.
