Santa Ana Police Seize 650 Pounds of Illegal Fireworks and Cite Two Homeowners Following Search Warrants

SANTA ANA, CA – Directed Patrol Officers with the Santa Ana Police Department, assisted by the Vice Unit, executed two separate search warrants at residences identified as being involved in the possession of illegal fireworks.

During the execution of the warrants, officers seized approximately 550 illegal fireworks. The confiscated items weighed an estimated 650 pounds and possessed a combined retail value of approximately $8,000.

Following the searches, both homeowners were issued administrative citations in the amount of $1,000 for the possession of prohibited fireworks.

Under current City of Santa Ana municipal regulations, the possession and use of illegal fireworks carry penalties that include a minimum $1,000 fine, up to six months of incarceration, or both.
