Suspect Arrested in Attempted San Carlos Bank Robbery
SAN CARLOS, CA — “A suspect was swiftly arrested by deputies with the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office after threatening to rob a bank in San Carlos Tuesday afternoon.
On June 9, 2026, at around 12:30 p.m., San Mateo County Public Safety Communications notified deputies of a panic alarm at a bank located in the 700 block of El Camino Real in the City of San Carlos.
Within minutes, deputies responded and found a male suspect at the teller counter who appeared agitated, along with the female teller who appeared fearful for her safety. Deputies entered the bank and detained the suspect without incident.
During the investigation, deputies learned the suspect told the teller he had a gun and demanded $5,000 in cash. Despite the threats, no firearm was located.
The suspect, 45-year-old Gilberto M. Mirandaorozco of Millbrae, was arrested and booked into the Maguire Correctional Facility for PC 664/211 – Attempted Robbery.
The case will be forwarded to the Federal Bureau of Investigation for consideration of federal charges.”
