Suspect Arrested for Stealing from Sheriff’s Office Secured Yard
REDDING, CA — “On Tuesday, April 7th, 2026, Shasta County Sheriff’s Office staff discovered unknown person(s) had unlawfully entered an outdoor secured area, located in the area of Veterans Lane, Redding. After checking the area, staff discovered generators and water pumps missing, totaling approximately $9,000.
On Sunday, April 12th, at approximately 3:15 AM, a Sergeant with the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office observed a male adult, later identified as 48-year-old Jason Albert Dabill of Redding, riding a bicycle on Veterans Lane. After losing sight of Dabill, he was contacted in the same area about 10 minutes later. Dabill was found to be in possession of stolen property from the same secured area that had been entered earlier in the week.
Dabill admitted to entering the secured yard and taking items. He also admitted to taking items from the same location earlier in the week. Deputies responded to Dabill’s homeless camp, located off Canyon Creek Road in Redding, where they recovered and seized an additional stolen item.
Dabill was booked into the Shasta County Jail for 602 PC – Trespassing, 488 PC – Theft, 666.1(a)(1) PC – Theft with priors and 11377(a) H&S – Possession of a Controlled Substance. His bail is set at $25,000 and his arraignment is scheduled for Wednesday April 15th at 1:30 PM in the Shasta County Superior Court.”
