CHP Reportedly Seizes 10 Pounds of Meth During Traffic Stop on Interstate 5
COALINGA, CA — MARCH 25TH 2026 “Yesterday afternoon at approximately 4:35 p.m., a CHP Coalinga Area officer conducted an enforcement stop on a 2020 Chevrolet Traverse for speeding and window tint violations on Interstate 5 within Kings County.
During the stop, the officer observed several indicators and developed reasonable suspicion that criminal activity was occurring. The driver consented to a search of the vehicle. During the search, the officer located approximately 10 pounds of suspected methamphetamine concealed inside a backpack.
A search of the passenger revealed he was in possession of a Beretta 9mm pistol. Continuing the vehicle search, the officer also located a modified short-barreled assault rifle.
Both the driver and passenger were arrested. The methamphetamine was turned over to the Fresno High Impact Investigations Team (HIIT) for further investigation. Both subjects were booked into the Kings County Jail on the following charges:
-11378 H&S – Possession of narcotics for sales
-11379(a) H&S – Transportation of narcotics for sales
-11379(b) H&S – Transportation of narcotics across noncontiguous counties
-11370.1 H&S – Possession of a controlled substance with a loaded firearm
-25850 (a) PC- Possession of a concealed loaded firearm
All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.”
