Corning Man Arrested for Attempted Murder Following Edith Avenue Stabbing

CORNING, CA — On March 3, 2026, at approximately 12:49 AM, Corning Police officers responded to a 911 call reporting a stabbing in the 240 block of Edith Avenue. Upon arrival, law enforcement personnel canvassed the area and located a 38-year-old male victim from Red Bluff in a parking lot suffering from multiple stab wounds. The victim was subsequently transported to a local hospital for medical treatment.

During the initial investigation, officers made contact with several individuals at the scene, one of whom provided a false identity. Collaborating with the Tehama County Major Crimes Unit, investigators developed leads that resulted in the surveillance of a local apartment. This operation led to the apprehension of two suspects.

One individual taken into custody was identified as being wanted for murder by the Tehama County Sheriff’s Office in an unrelated matter. The second suspect, identified as 33-year-old Ivan Rodriguez of Corning, was arrested on charges of attempted murder (PC 664/187) and violation of parole (3056).  Both individuals were booked into the Tehama County Jail, with bail for Rodriguez set at $1,000,000. The Corning Police Department and the Tehama County Major Crimes Unit continue to investigate the case.
