SARAMENTO COUNTY, CA  — March 27th 2026 — “In September of 2025, a mother called the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office to report that her 13-year-old daughter had been sexually assaulted by a relative, Larry Candies, 75.

The minor was later interviewed by a Forensic Interview Specialist and SSO Child Abuse Detectives at the Family Justice Center in Modesto and disclosed Larry had been molesting her since she was approximately 11 years old.

During the investigation, Child Protective Services reports as well as Stockton Police Department reports, revealed prior sexual assault allegations against Candies.

SSO Detectives contacted prior reported victims and spoke with two relatives of Candies, one of whom described being sexually abused by Larry in the 1980s between the ages of  eight and 13 years old.
