FILLMORE, CA — March 14, 2026
One arrested and two injured in an assault in Fillmore, CA.
In the early evening hours of March 11th Ventura County Sheriff’s Department deputies were
dispatched to an intersection in Fillmore in response to a reported assault.
According to VCSD spokesman Sgt. Jarrod Foote, when deputies arrived, they found “a teenage
victim suffering from injuries consistent with an assault and violent battery.” He was taken to a
hospital, where he was admitted for treatment.
An 18-year-old man was also later identified as a second victim in a related incident.
VCSD detectives quickly focused on Ivan Hernandez, 34, of Fillmore, as the suspected attacker.
Hernandez is a documented criminal street gang member who had “recently been released from
parole” with a pending criminal case regarding an alleged January 2026 assault with a deadly
weapon; he was out on bail at the time of this more recent incident.
Over the following days, the Fillmore Detective Unit worked alongside patrol deputies to build
the case, gathering “additional evidence” linking Hernandez to both the assault on the juvenile
and a separate battery involving the 18-year-old victim.
On March 14, deputies located Hernandez in the Santa Clara River bottom area and took him
into custody without incident.
He was transported to Ventura County Jail, where he was booked
on felony counts of assault causing serious bodily injury and child endangerment, along with a
misdemeanor count of battery. He remains in custody on a no-bail hold.
