Stolen Truck Pursuit Ends in Canal Crash; Suspect Arrested in Corcoran

CORCORAN, CA — “On February 10, 2026, KCSO Deputies responded to the area of Niles Avenue and 5 ½ Avenue regarding the theft of a truck and a trailer. Approximately an hour later, deputies located the stolen truck, and a male was observed getting into the truck by the KCSO Rural Crimes Unit. Detectives with the Rural Crimes Unit followed the truck until Patrol Deputies arrived and initiated a traffic stop. The truck failed to yield and a pursuit was initiated. The truck stayed mainly on canal banks and dirt roads throughout the pursuit. The male later identified as Luciano Navarro was currently under investigation for equipment thefts that had occurred over the last two months in the unincorporated areas of Kings County.

The pursuit continued onto dirt roads and with the assistance of the Kings County Sheriff’s Office Air Support Unit, Deputies were able to stay at a safe distance and set a perimeter to keep the stolen vehicle from entering paved roads, ensuring the safety of the public. The pursuit continued for approximately an hour and concluded after the vehicle crashed into an embankment and the suspect fled into a canal.

After Navarro’s arrest, KCSO recovered two vehicles, a trailer, two skid steers, two backhoes, and two loaders. The equipment recovered (approximately $410,000 in value) was returned to their rightful owners.

The Kings County Sheriff’s Office Rural Crimes Unit would like to thank our agricultural partners for their assistance in this case. This investigation and arrest would not have been possible without the partnerships of the Kings County Sheriff’s Office, the Corcoran Police Department and the Kings County District Attorney’s Office.”
