Two Arrested Following Parole Search at Monterey Sober Living Facility
MONTEREY, CA– “On February 12, 2026 at 10:05 A.M., Monterey Police Officers performed a parole search in the 1100 block of Pacific Street at Recovery and Restoration Services, a men’s sober living facility. Officers determined several of the treatment center’s residents were on parole and living at the facility. As a result of the search, officers took the following action.
Shaundrick Staten, 37 years old of Monterey, was found to be in possession of a loaded stolen handgun, possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana for sales, and a parole violation. Staten was on parole for domestic violence and placed on a parole hold after being booked into Monterey County Jail.
Matthew Curtis, 46 years old of Monterey, was found to be in possession of narcotics and possession of drug paraphernalia. Curtis was on parole for burglary and placed on a parole hold after being booked into the Monterey County Jail.
Officers also located narcotics among the property of two other residents who were on parole but not present during the search. The MPD continues to investigate their involvement in this incident for criminal charges.”
