Yolo County Deputy Recovers Stolen Handgun Following Motorcycle Traffic Stop

DUNNIGAN, CA — FEBRUARY 2ND 2026

“On January 30 at approximately 10:02 p.m., a Yolo County Sheriff’s Deputy conducted a traffic stop on a motorcycle traveling northbound on Interstate 5 in the Dunnigan area.

During the stop, the deputy observed large bulges in the rider’s waistband. The rider initially stated he was carrying a BB gun. After the rider was safely detained, deputies recovered a BB gun from his right hip and a Ruger 9mm handgun from his left hip. Additional contraband was also located.

The firearm was confirmed to be stolen from a residence in Lake County. The rider, David Grivette (42 years) was traveling back toward Lake County at the time of the stop.

This incident highlights the importance of proactive traffic enforcement and officer safety.”
