Plumas County Traffic Stop Leads to Narcotics and Firearm Seizure

PORTOLA, CA – “🚔 Arrest Made Following Traffic Stop and Probation Search along Highway 70 outside of Portola

On the evening of January 16, 2026, a Plumas County patrol sergeant conducted a traffic stop in the Portola area that led to the arrest of a local probationer, Robert Appley, and the seizure of drugs, drug paraphernalia, ammunition, and a firearm.

The stop occurred around 9:50 p.m. on Highway 70 just east of Portola. During a probation search, deputies located methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, alcohol, and a firearm holster. A subsequent search warrant was served at the individual’s Quincy residence and on a second vehicle, resulting in additional evidence being seized, including controlled substances and a firearm.

No injuries were reported, and a passenger in the vehicle was not arrested and was assisted to her destination.

The case will be forwarded to the Plumas County District Attorney’s Office for review and prosecution.”
