Plumas County Sheriff: Suspect arraigned on five felony counts of arson

PLUMAS COUNTY // The County DA’s Office has arraigned Jeffrey Schmid on five felony charges related to a series of fires at Plumas National Forest.

Schmid is charged with “one count of felony aggravated arson” and “four counts of felony arson of forest land.”

The following are all fires believed to have been set by Schmid — the Minerva, Toll, Squirrel, and Rhinehart Meadows fires.

He remains housed at the Plumas County Correctional Facility on $1,000,000 bail as the investigation continues.
