“On the evening of Dec. 9, Roseville Police Officers responded to Sutter Roseville Medical Center for a reported carjacking.
The investigation determined that as the victim exited her car, a male in the parking lot asked for a ride. When the victim declined, the suspect entered the vehicle, took control of it, and drove off, striking the victim and causing serious injury. The suspect also struck a parked vehicle as he fled the scene.
Roseville Patrol Officers ensured the victim was provided medical care and dove right into investigating the incident. Through their investigation, the suspect was identified as 30-year-old Christian Somerville of Orangevale.
The victim’s vehicle was located unoccupied within the hour, but despite extensive searches, Somerville was not immediately found.
Officers continued working the case overnight, and the following morning, Detectives took over the investigation working in coordination with the Folsom Police Department and Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office. In the afternoon on 12/10, only 16 hours after the initial call, Detectives from RPD’s Crime Suppression Unit, and our partners with Folsom PD and Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office, were able to locate Somerville and arrested him in Orangevale, Ca. without incident.
Somerville was booked into the South Placer County Jail on the following charges:
• Carjacking
• Assault with a Deadly Weapon
• Hit and Run with Injury
• Hit and Run
