AUBURN – Three people from Oakland committed a cigarette robbery from a truck at a convenience store.

The incident occurred on the 600 block of Auburn Folsom Road when the trio overtook a delivery driver. They stole “multiple bulk boxes of cigarettes.”

The victim gave police a description of the suspect’s vehicle.  With that description, a detective spotted it and stopped it at Horseshoe Bar Road near I-80.

Here’s where it gets tricky. Once the vehicle stopped,  a passenger jumped out and ran. While the detective pursued the fleeing suspect, the others drove away.

The detective nabbed the fleeing suspect. The fleeing vehicle was next spotted in Rocklin. Once responders stopped the vehicle again, the other two unsuccessfully tried to flee. As a result, law enforcement reports three arrests
