Attempted Burglary is still Burglary

Attempted Burglary is still Burglary

Roseville Case Highlight of the Week:
“On November 23, around 7:45 a.m., officers responded to an attempted commercial burglary at REI on Galleria Blvd. after a suspect was caught on video trying (and failing) to pry open and break in through a rear door.

Working with REI employees and reviewing surveillance footage, the investigation suggested the suspect could possibly be a member of our homeless population and in the area.

This information was passed along to RPD’s Social Services Unit who were given the suspect’s photo and clothing description.

On November 24, while our Social Service unit was marking illegal camps with 48-hour removal notices near Roseville Parkway and Taylor Rd, they located the same suspect at his camp, where he was still in possession of the clothing captured on camera.

Officers arrested 32-year-old Ryan Murphy for attempted burglary, vandalism, and outstanding warrants. He was brought to the Placer County Jail, where deputies were kind enough to leave the door unlocked, so he could walk right in.

Thank you to REI staff for calling the police department so patrol and our Social Service Unit could solve the case.”
