Deputies Reportedly Confiscated 86 Grams of Cocaine from Suspect During Booking

SAN MATEO COUNTY, CA — “San Mateo County Sheriff’s deputies and correctional officers working at the Maguire Correctional Facility on Monday confiscated approximately 86 grams of suspected cocaine from a suspect during the booking process, preventing the drugs from entering the facility further.

On Monday, Nov. 17, 2025, at around 11 a.m., deputies patrolling the City of Millbrae located and arrested 36-year-old Jazz R. Svarda for an outstanding felony warrant.

During the booking process at the Maguire Correctional Facility, which included the use of the Sheriff’s Office state-of-the-art body scanning machine, deputies and correctional officers located the large amount of suspected cocaine in Svarda’s possession. The drugs were safely seized for evidence.

‘I’m incredibly proud of our deputies and correctional officers for the vigilance they demonstrated and their daily commitment to ensure the safety of our correctional facilities,’ said Sheriff Ken Binder. ‘The intake process is a critical step in ensuring the safety of everyone within the facilities, for both staff and those incarcerated.’

As a result of the investigation, Svarda was booked on the felony warrant and the following charges:

HS 11351 – possession of a controlled substance for sale
HS 11351.5 – possession of cocaine base for sale
PC 4573(a) – possession of controlled substance in correctional facility
PC 148.9 – false identification to a peace officer

The San Mateo County Narcotics Task Force is assisting with the investigation, which is ongoing.”
