Kings County Authorities Recover 2,000 Pounds of Stolen Copper Wire; Suspect Arrested
KINGS COUNTY, CA — “On 10/21/25 the Kings County Sheriff’s Office Rural Crimes Unit was informed of a person recycling a large amount of copper wire. KCSO Rural Crime Detectives were able to identify the vehicle and the person recycling the wire. It was determined the person recycling the wire was doing so to hide the identity of the person that possessed the wire. This information led KCSO Rural Crime Detectives to the owner of the truck who was a resident of Huron. Rural Crime Detectives contacted the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office Ag Unit, and it was discovered that multiple agriculture wells had been vandalized in the Huron area over the past two weeks by removing the copper wire.
The Kings County Rural Crimes Unit was able to identify the suspect who was using a storage unit in the City of Lemoore. During this time both investigative units shared information, and the suspect Salvadore Silva Valdovinos was taken into custody on 10/30/25 while unloading copper wire that he had stolen the previous evening from the Fresno County area.
A search warrant was authored for the storage unit and the vehicle that Valdovinos was driving. The search yielded over a half a pound of methamphetamine and approximately 2000 pounds of stolen wire and other items taken during an agricultural burglary. Valdovinos was later booked into the Fresno County Jail on multiple property theft and narcotics charges and will be prosecuted in Fresno County for these offences.”
