Watsonville Man Arrested for Alleged Sexual Assault, Kidnapping of Teen Girl
WATSONVILLE, CA — November 7th 2025 — Law enforcement officials have arrested a 19-year-old Watsonville man in connection with the alleged sexual assault and kidnapping of a teenage girl. The suspect, identified as 19 year old Christopher Medina Amezquita, was taken into custody in Capitola following an investigation involving multiple agencies.
Watsonville Police Officers initiated the investigation this morning after responding to a report of a sexual assault in the 700 block of Walker Street. At the scene, officers gathered information indicating that the suspect approached the 17-year-old victim and subsequently persuaded her to enter his vehicle. The suspect then allegedly drove to a different location where the assault is reported to have occurred. Authorities stated that the victim did not have a prior relationship with the suspect.
The Watsonville Police Department coordinated efforts with the Capitola Police Department, the Santa Cruz County Anti-Crime Team, and the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office to locate and apprehend Medina Amezquita.
Following the arrest, Medina Amezquita was booked into the Santa Cruz County Jail. He is facing multiple felony charges, which include rape, false imprisonment, and kidnapping. Detectives involved in the case currently suspect that there may be other individuals who have been victimized by Medina Amezquita. Authorities are urging anyone who believes they may be an additional victim to contact the Watsonville Police Department’s Detective Marcos Rios.
