Nine Suspects Arrested Following Robberies at Two High Schools

ELK GROVE, CA — Law enforcement officials with the Elk Grove Police Department arrested nine individuals yesterday afternoon in connection with two separate robberies that took place at Monterey Trail High School and Laguna Creek High School. The arrests, which occurred around 4:30 p.m., followed an investigation into the incidents that involved the use of force and the brandishing of a firearm.

The detained group consists of seven juveniles and two 18-year-olds. They are suspected of involvement in both campus incidents. The initial robbery occurred at Monterey Trail High School, where the suspects reportedly used physical force to steal jewelry from at least one individual before leaving the school grounds.

A short time later, the same group allegedly arrived at Laguna Creek High School. During this second incident, suspects again forcibly took jewelry from a victim, and one suspect is reported to have brandished a firearm.

Detectives conducting a search of the areas surrounding the schools later located a group matching the suspects’ description in a shopping center parking lot near Cosumnes River College in the City of Sacramento. Upon the approach of officers, several individuals attempted to flee the scene, but all nine were quickly detained.

Video surveillance footage was subsequently used to confirm the involvement of the detained individuals in the robberies. During the arrests, officers recovered property stolen from the victims, as well as a firearm believed to have been used in the commission of the crime.

All nine suspects have been arrested and face multiple charges, including robbery, however their names have not been made publicly available at this time.
