SAN RAFAEL, CA — A pest control exterminator, with 20+ prior drug-related arrests, racked up his
30th arrest for possession of illicit drugs.
The repeat offender Edgar A. Aguilar, a 36-year-old resident of Novato, was booked into Marin County Jail on November 2.
Aguilar was arrested this time outside an apartment building at 19 Merrydale Road in San
Rafael, following a “routine” late nighttime traffic stop.
“He was pulled over for having expired registration tags dated two years back,” San Rafael police said in a prepared statement.
His traffic stop escalated to more serious offenses when a police dog alerted officers to the
presence of narcotics.
“Tango (the dog) detected the scent of drugs, which led officers to discover not only narcotics. But also cash, packaging materials, and a weight scale, indicators
of possession for sales.”
In addition to the drugs found inside Aguilar’s vehicle, police also found additional drugs and a
drug-smoking pipe in Aguilar’s pockets during his arrest.
Following his search and arrest, Aguilar was booked on open charges for possession of a
controlled substance for sale.
He was also booked for possession of hard drugs with two prior
convictions, and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. His investigation remains
ongoing.
Since April 2014, Aguilar has been arrested more than 50 times, including his most recent
drugs-related arrest.
He also has prior arrests for thefts of vehicles, burglaries, forgery,
battery, among other offenses. All his arrests have taken place in Marin County, except for
one arrest in Alameda County.
