2 Suspects Arrested for Vehicle Theft, Downtown Machete Attack

SAN RAFAEL — Two individuals with formidable rap sheets have been arrested again. This time they were arrested for vehicle theft and wielding a machete in a threatening manner.

The incident happened on November 2 at approximately 11 p.m. A man walking downtown noticed a heavyset man and heavyset woman sitting inside a parked car and arguing.

The male suspect evidently noticed the passerby glancing at them. He promptly got out of the car and proceeded to chase after the pedestrian. The suspect evidently caught up with the victim and punched him, while brandishing a machete.

As the victim continued running away, the suspect continued chasing after him. At one point, the suspect allegedly threw the machete at the victim, and narrowly missed hitting him.

The attacker left the area and the victim and witnesses of the attack reported it to police. The suspects were later found sitting in a parked car again, which was reported stolen in Sacramento.

San Rafael PD arrested 28-year-old Dominic D. Colbert and 30-year-old Monica Garcia, both residents of Vallejo.

Colbert was booked for vehicle theft and assault with a deadly weapon likely to produce great bodily injury. He has 12 prior arrests for assault, carjacking, kidnapping, robbery, and other offenses.

Garcia was booked for vehicle theft. She has nine prior arrests mostly for possession of controlled substances, firearms, forgery and identity theft.
