BAY POINT — A woman is accused of fatally stabbing her husband in his neck.
The suspect Libelyn T. Utt, 57, of Bay Point, was arrested on October 23. She remains behind bars in custody in lieu of
$1 million bond.
Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to the couple’s residence in Bay Point
on the morning of October 23.
They made a tragic discovery at a home located on Solano Court, two blocks away from Anuta Park.
Deputies who entered the house found the victim Brian Lee Utt, 54, bleeding from life-threatening stab
wounds.
The deputies provided first aid until paramedics arrived, and an ambulance transported the
man to a nearby hospital. Unfortunately, he was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
The suspect was arrested at 11:31 a.m., without further incident, shortly after deputies arrived at the
scene. Utt was transported and booked into the Martinez Detention Facility.
On October 27, charges were filed against the victim’s wife. Utt is charged with murder, with a special
allegation/enhancement for use of a deadly/dangerous weapon.
“There are no outstanding suspects and no threat to the public,” a prepared statement from the
sheriff’s office said. However, detectives from the homicide unit are continuing to investigate the
incident.
