BERKELEY — Police arrested three suspects for carjacking a delivery driver in a West
Berkeley residential neighborhood.
The three accused men were booked at Alameda County Santa Rita Jail on October 17.
The suspects are Emiliano Estupinanjurado, a 23-year-old transient; Enrique Arellano, 30, of
Pittsburg ; and Freddie D. Talavera, 33, of Bay Point.
The carjacking incident occurred October 16 at approximately 5 p.m. It happened near the
intersection of Addison and 10th streets, which is close to a freeway entrance.
The victim reported being accosted while making a delivery. He struggled trying to enter his
vehicle, and he sustained minor injuries. The suspects fled with the victim’s vehicle, and also
took his cell phone.
Police tracked the GPS signal of the stolen phone to Oakland. The stolen vehicle was
recovered several hours later, about 50 miles away in Tracy.
Estupinanjurado was placed under arrest October 17 at 12:32 a.m. Estupinanjurado is a
transient with previous felony convictions.
He has prior arrests on his record for receiving a stolen vehicle, grand theft, and possession of a controlled substance.
Estupinanjurado was charged on October 20 with carjacking, under aggravated
circumstances with violence or bodily harm.
Estupinanjurado remains behind bars, pending a pretrial hearing on October 29.
Arellano was arrested on October 16 at 11:46 p.m. He was booked on suspicion of receiving
a stolen vehicle, possession of burglar’s tools, conspiracy, and theft from an elderly person.
Bond for his release from custody was set at $25,000.
Talavera was booked on suspicion of carjacking, receiving a stolen vehicle, and conspiracy.
Talavera is no longer listed in the online county jail rooster.
He has multiple prior arrests on his record for possession of controlled substances, and other offenses.
