Indio Police Safely Apprehend Suspect from Rooftop After Standoff
INDIO, CA — October 20th, 2025 — “Today at 2:07 p.m., the suspect in this case was safely taken into custody by members of Desert Regional S.W.A.T., while he was still on the rooftop of the Sunline building. Several flashbangs were deployed as a distraction as officers approached the suspect. He was not hit with any of the flashbangs.
The suspect was evaluated by CAL-Fire personnel for dehydration, and he is currently being processed. He will be booked into the John Benoit Detention Center on several charges, including vandalism, assault with a deadly weapon, and a felony warrant.
The roadway is now fully open. The Indio Police Department would like to thank members of our community for their patience and cooperation during the road closures.
