Merced Police Investigate Fatal Hit-and-Run on West Main Street
MERCED, CA — “On October 13, 2025, at approximately 4:34 p.m., the Merced Police Department received multiple reports of a traffic collision in the 600 block of West Main Street in Merced. Officers, along with emergency medical personnel, responded to the scene and located a 46-year-old female lying in the roadway. She was transported to a local hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries.
The Merced Police Department’s Traffic Unit responded and assumed control of the investigation. Preliminary findings revealed that the victim had been riding a bicycle in the roadway when she was struck by a vehicle traveling westbound on Main Street. The driver of the vehicle fled the scene; however, the vehicle was captured on multiple surveillance cameras and quickly identified.
On the morning of October 14, 2025, officers located the suspect vehicle and the driver, who attempted to flee on foot. The driver was identified as 41-year-old Nathaniel Louis Mack of Merced. Mack was taken into custody, interviewed, and subsequently booked into the Merced County Jail on charges of felony hit-and-run and driving on a suspended license.
The identity of the victim is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
