Sutter Creek Police Seek Public’s Help in City Hall Arson, $5,000 Reward Offered
SUTTER CREEK, CA — September 15th 2025 “In the early morning hours of July 16, 2025, one person forced entry into the basement of City Hall and set a fire. A Sutter Creek Police Officer was upstairs in the Police Department working on a sensitive investigation and documenting a suspect interview that had just taken place. The officer heard an explosion, smelled smoke and notified the Sutter Creek Fire Department.
The fire was extinguished safely. The initial investigation categorized the fire as suspicious however additional information and evidence collected subsequently, specifically video evidence, indicated that the fire was intentionally set.
Sutter Creek Police have worked continuously since this event with the Sutter Creek Fire team, the Amador County District Attorney’s Office, the Amador County Sheriff’s Department, the California Department of Justice forensic and video enhancement teams, the Sacramento County High Tech Task Force and our federal partners at the ATF.
It is the strong belief of the collective investigative team that there are those in our community who have information about this crime. The City of Sutter Creek is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for this crime, as well as the arrest and conviction of those who may have aided the person before or after the crime.
