Madera County Man Arrested for Allegedly Trying to Evade Deputies in Stolen Skid Steer
MADERA COUNTY, CA — A Madera County man was arrested after allegedly stealing a large construction vehicle and attempting to evade authorities in it.
According to a press release by the Madera County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a report of a theft in progress at Vulcan Materials on Highway 145 on Monday, Sept. 1.
Responding deputies allegedly witnessed the suspect trying to flee the scene in a skid steer. The suspect reportedly tried multiple times to drive over dirt berms, but with no success.
The suspect, identified as 54-year-old Martin Rushing, was taken into custody on multiple felony charges and two outstanding warrants, the sheriff’s office said.
