In early August, the Madera Police Department responded to a residence in the City of Madera where a 24-year-old male was found deceased from a suspected overdose. An autopsy report determined that the victim’s death was caused by a fentanyl overdose. Detectives with the Madera Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) collected substantial evidence that Elias Solis provided the fentanyl to the victim shortly before his death. With the assistance from the DEA FORT Team (Fentanyl Overdose Response Team), Madera County Sheriff’s Office, Madera County District Attorney’s Office and the US Attorney’s Office a federal arrest warrant was issued for Elias Soliz. On 11/2/23, members from Madera SIU and the DEA arrested Elias Soliz for his warrant and he was booked into the Fresno County Jail for distribution of fentanyl. We would like to thank our allied agencies for their assistance in this investigation and hope that this brings a level of closure to the victim’s family.
