FILLMORE, CA  —  June 25, 2025

A 45-year-old woman was arrested on the morning of June 24 after a raging house fire in the
City of Fillmore led investigators to suspect arson.

Just after 8 a.m., Ventura County Sheriff’s Department deputies from the Fillmore Police Station
responded to reports of a structure fire on a residential Fillmore street.

According to Ventura County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Cpt. Rob Yoos, when deputies rolled up to the scene,
“the home was fully engulfed in flames.”

In the backyard, deputies found 45-year-old Brandy Hollis, a Fillmore resident, who “appeared disoriented” and was quickly moved to safety with
help from nearby residents.

Paramedics evaluated Hollis at the scene while firefighters worked to contain the blaze, which
had already caused significant damage to the home.

Flames also spread to neighboring residences, but the Ventura County Fire Department was able to prevent more serious destruction
through swift action.

Detectives from the Fillmore Bureau of Investigation soon arrived and began working alongside
the Sheriff’s Major Crimes Bureau and fire investigators from both the Fillmore and Ventura
County Fire Departments.

Following a joint investigation, detectives gathered “evidence indicating the fire had been
deliberately set.”

Hollis was taken into custody and transported to Ventura County Jail, where she was charged with arson of an inhabited structure.
