California Highway Patrol Reportedly Seizes 50 Pounds of Meth During Traffic Stop
LOS BANOS, CA –– “On June 6, 2025, at approximately 6:48p.m., a CHP – Central Division K-9 officer, conducted an enforcement stop on a black 2024 Ford Expedition for a traffic violation. The stop occurred on northbound I-5 at State Route 165 within Merced County. During the contact, the officer noted several factors and tradecraft which led him to believe the driver was engaged in criminal activity. The officer asked for and was granted both verbal and written consent to search the Ford. While searching the vehicle, the officer discovered approximately 50 pounds of methamphetamine. The methamphetamine was concealed in baggage within the passenger compartment of the vehicle. The driver was arrested and the case was turned over to Agents with the Drug Enforcement Administration – DEA. DEA agents assumed the investigation and took custody of the methamphetamine. The driver was later booked into the Merced County Jail for the following charges:
11378 H&S – Possession of methamphetamine for sales.
11379(a) H&S – Transportation of methamphetamine.
11379(b) H&S – Transportation of methamphetamine across non-contiguous counties.
The value of the methamphetamine is approximately $681,000.
