Two arrests made after high-speed pursuit

Davey Humbert

A high speed pursuit ended in two arrests on the evening of May 17th in Merced. Merced police officers attempted to make a routine traffic stop on a 1996 Honda when it sped away and began a chase down East Bear Creek. As the Honda reached speeds of 100 miles per hour, the suspects lost control of the vehicle and wrecked the car in the area of Bear Creek and Arboleda Drive.

Upon apprehending the suspects, the officers on the scene discovered that the vehicle was reported stolen out of Merced. The passenger, 19-year-old Davey Humbert was arrested without incident. The 16-year-old driver, who rescue personnel had to remove from the vehicle, was flown to a hospital in Modesto where he was last listed as being in stable condition. The driver, who was already on probation for auto theft, is being charged with possession of stolen property. Because he is a juvenile, his name will not be released.
